Tiny little munchkins have arrived today.
Four of them at only 7 weeks old. The previous lots were always around twelve weeks and considerably bigger.
Asking the farmer what breed they are doesn't give you any idea of what stock they really are. Most of the time they say duroc. But a duroc is ginger, a light, medium or dark shade of ginger. These ones have been crossed many times over, if you ask me, but in the end it doesn't really matter. They seem healthy and inquisitive.
But at the moment, they are tired and sleepy.
Today they have to stay inside and if all goes well they can roam a little tomorrow. First all the fences need to be checked. Which we would have done before the sausages arrived, only they weren't expected for another couple of days.
Never fear. They will have a lovely existence with us until the time comes.
