Up to the third floor! As I've said before, one of the perks of our house is a true third floor, with full sized stairs and high ceilings, not a converted attic.
And the other thing? Lots of room to hang original comic book art.
There's a pretty good-sized landing that I neglected to photograph. It's about 12 feet long by 4 feet long, lots of room for some shorter bookcases and a triptych of Will Eisner Spirit prints. To the right is my office and guest room.
I wish I'd have taken a picture before we started moving. I love the green color of the wall -- it was chosen to keep me awake while working and chase any guests out after a couple of days. The futon that you'll see in the TV room was replaced by the gigantic pile of boxes for the 12-inch figures that Evan makes. They used to be lined up on the top of the wall of bookshelves. There's also a sizable closet tucked into the eaves on each side -- the bookshelves are in front of one of them.
Off to the TV room.
Plus a nice little nook for Evan's comic boxes:
It's a big s-shaped room. All those nice white walls near the couch used to hold shelves for the DVDs, but Evan has put all of them into notebooks and tossed the cases. No small feat, physically or emotionally. The dormer that the TV is tucked into is more substantial than it seems. It also has 12-14 feet of closets to the left of the TV tucked into the eaves.
I had grand plans to extend the dormer to fit a king-sized bed and put custom-built drawers into the eaves, which worked beautifully in my mom-in-law's houseboat. We'd turn the attic into a bathroom (since it's directly above the other bathroom, it would have been easy, as far as plumbing goes) and then we'd have a ovel master suite, complete with office, and we could cede the second floor with its full bath and three bedrooms to our three kids.
Here's the attic, which is really just an unfinished room.
Big enough for a sink, commode (that's "potty" in real estate speak -- see, Vanessa? I'm learning!) and a tub with a Euro-shower fixture.
Finally, my favorite view of the house, looking down three stories.
That's our happy home. I'm pleased to say that a day later, I have actually washed a lot of that laundry. Keep tuned for pictures once it's staged!
