I've made it pretty clear that I'm a huge Disney fan; but, have I mentioned that my all time favorite is Sleeping Beauty?! I even had a violinist play "Once Upon A Dream" as I walked down the aisle at my wedding!
Not only do I love Aurora, I also love Maleficent - what a good villain she is! She turns in to a dragon and that's pretty bad ass! So, when ColourPop announced their Disney Designer collection, I was a little sad to see that Aurora was not included. So, when the new Disney Villains collection was announced I was pretty excited to see Maleficent included!
When I saw this collection announced, it took a lot of self-restraint not to pick the whole collection up! I picked up the whole Disney Designer collection; but, I wanted to pick up a couple must haves from the Disney Villains collection and since Maleficent is my favorite, of course I was picking up a few things from the collection!
The whole collection was focused on 6 Villains - The Evil Queen, Maleficent, Ursula, Cruella De Vil, Hades and Dr. Facilier. Then, each Villain comes with a lipstick, jelly much shadow, super shock highlighter, and lip gloss. Plus, the collection came with an eyeshadow palette (yes, I picked that up too - review to come!), plus 2 glitterally obsessed glitters!
ColourPop Spindle Jelly Much Shadow ~ $8.00 US. No need to wait until your birthday for this cool toned lavender with a champagne gold flip.
I tried the Jelly Much Shadow formula earlier this year and I fell in love with it instantly - it's by far the product that I'm eyeing all the time now from ColourPop! And, I really love some of the shades they released in the Villains collection (I have a feeling I will be picking up more!) The formula applies easily, dries down quickly and does not fade or crease on the eye! I consider these a must try product - they are just so cool!
This shadow is gorgeous! I love purple shadows and I really love the tone of this purple - it's not too light and not too deep. It's actually a fair bit more shimmery than I was expecting; but, it's quite beautiful.
This is the shadow on my eye applied with a brush - it is a little more shimmery and a little less pigmented than if it was applied with a finger tip. I actually liked for the look I did that it was a little less bright. If you use your finger to apply this jelly shadow, it will turn out much closer to my arm swatch above. You can also see here how another jelly much applied with a finger, the only difference is that this one has more shimmer!
ColourPop Maleficent Creme Lux Lipstick ~ $8.00 CAN. This deep magenta will give you all the powers of HELL!!
In all of my budgeting makeup and being more "practical" in my spending purchases, I pretty much didn't care that this was a colour I would wear very often; because, it's so gorgeous! I'm not a huge bright lipstick wearer as it is; but, if I'm wearing something bold, this is totally a shade I'm drawn towards!
Not only was the shade amazing; but, this was a really god formula too! It applied very evenly and very opaque - all I had to do was go around the edges of my lips to straighten them out.
The colour was pigmented and comfortable to wear. It has a creamy finish; but, still felt secure on the lips, like it won't easily slide or smear around and it wore well! The only thing I will say is after taking this off, I did notice some staining on my lips, especially on dry patches so be warned, your lips may be pink for a little while after!
Here is a full look with the Maleficent lipstick and Spindle shadow on and I really like both of these. I think the shadow is so perfect and I like that it's a lavender purple that looks quite like the shadow the original Maleficent cartoon wore.
The Maleficent lipstick is close to some of the original pictures too - some pictures have it a little more red, and when they made the Maleficent movie, it went even redder. Either way, it's a gorgeous product!
I have to say, I'm very happy with the lipstick and the eyeshadow I tried! I also picked up the Misunderstood Eyeshadow Palette and I can't wait to try it! I can certainly see myself picking up a few more things from this collection in the future!
Also, as with their previous Disney collaboration, their packaging is fabulous - I can't throw any of it away and will have to display it somewhere because it's too pretty!
Have you tried anything from this collection, or is there anything you've been eyeballing? I'm looking at more of those Jelly Much shadows!!!
